Ice protection system
Ice protection systems are designed to keep ice from the atmosphere from accumulating on certain parts of the aircraft, like wings or propellers. On an aircraft, Ice accretion can occur. This can change the frame of airfoils and flight control surfaces, which can ultimately cause issues with maintaining and keeping the aircraft airborne, (in the air).
